New tax-laws offer significant benefits for donors who contribute to 501(c)3 organizations such as Redeemer Lutheran Church of Interlochen.
Have you ever considered contributing directly from your IRA? IRA holders age 70.5 or older can gift up to $100,000 per year from their IRA to charity, tax-free, with a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). This commitment also counts toward your minimum required distribution amount for the year, and the total gift is excluded from your adjusted gross income.
Even required minimum distributions (RMDs) from your IRA can be gifted. Gifting your RMD directly to the Church can offer you substantial tax savings and make a big impact on our community!
To make a qualified charitable distribution to Redeemer Lutheran Church of Interlochen, submit a distribution request to your IRA custodian, asking that the money be transferred directly to us. If a check is issued, the check should be made payable to Redeemer Lutheran Church of Interlochen.
Please note that in order for your gift to be tax-free, the money must go directly from your IRA to the Church. If you first receive the distribution and then send the money to Redeemer Lutheran, you must recognize the distribution as income.
As you reflect on the importance of our church community and the impact it has had on your personal and spiritual lives, please consider how you can potentially support this vital initiative. Remember – the commitment can be made tax-free!
