Mowry began the task of creating a Christian Funeral
planning guide.
My previous congregation had this. The work sheet was
simple.
It included hymn suggestions, Bible verses, and Baptism and
Confirmation verses. While these worksheets provided
guidance in funeral planning they also served as testaments
to the Christian faith and personal sentiment. Pastor
Mowry’s original worksheet was very extensive. He covered
just about everything imaginable about a Christian’s death
and burial. Normally, families in counsel with funeral home
directors, make these decisions at the time of death.
While extensive in nature, this form will be helpful for people
that want such a resource. However, I have created a simpler
form. I pray that all of us would take the time to fill out this
simple worksheet, making two copies, one personal and one
for the church. These sheets can be updated and changed at
any time. In addition, to these two guides, we are also
providing access to a Christian’s Durable Power of Attorney
for Health Care. This document should be used instead of
“living wills” as it is enforceable and Christian in its
implementation. All these forms will be available at the
church office.
